Most Expensive Slot Car in 2021 So Far
As we approach the end of March, we thought we would take a look at the most expensive slot car sold in 2021 so far. After looking around various auction websites, we found a listing for a “Scalextric Ferrari GT330 Blue (Made in Spain) C41” which caught our eye.
The original Scalextric (or Superslot?) car was described by the seller as “Used condition, a fair example of this Spanish made car. Has come out of a collection. There are some brown marks on the top of the car near the engine vents, screen is undamaged, no cracks or splits. The underpan is split. Headlights and tail lights all in place. Wheels and tyres in good condition”.
So how much did the car sell for? Well, we are unable to confirm if the buyer actually stumped up the cash, but the price it sold for on 13th February 2021 was £5,100. Unlucky date for the buyer if they did not receive payment. Plus with 10% sellers commission, that would be a whopping £510 in fees. Now if they had sold it via OffTrackBids, they would have only paid £1 in commission! (fees correct at time of writing!)
So if your mum or your ‘better half’ says to you that slot cars are not collectable, just show them this car. It may be a ‘one in a million’ find, but it may just enable you to get that slot car that you really want to add to your own collection.
